The dance performance AWAITING RESONANCE with dancers Kaja and Ivan is a piece of dance for dance. It is about the search for dance, the search of its origin. It’s a dance performance about the yet unborn dance. The dancers Kaja and Ivan are waiting for the perfect moment for their bodies to step together into the dancing field. With waiting, listening, echoing (in the other), with resonating (in the other), their bodies try to create the perfect instance. The dancer Kaja with her dance body and the dancer Ivan with his dance body are constantly returning to the point before dance in search for the source of dance; starting all over again, detaining, repeating, causing and cursing: the curse of the dance is a word, it is a discussion, a thought of the word and is the sense of the discussion, that abolishes the thought and sense of dance.

The dance performance Awaiting Resonance by Kaja Lorenci and Ivan Mijačević is somewhat of a choreographic manifestation of communication noise focused in particular on dance as a form of communication. In an ironic and humorous way, the artists observe the relation between verbal and dance language as two forms of communication that are, for each other, some sort of an emergency exit or substitute for failure. At the same time, Awaiting Resonance is somewhat of a trap in which an event in the form of a dance might get caught. The dancers say they are trying to “create a perfect moment by waiting and listening, by echoing (in the other), by resonating (in the other)” in order to discover “the emergence of dance”. They do this with such an amount of discreet humor that their glorification of the dance ideal as something extra-linguistic, semi-divine, functions as an ironic commentary on the discourse of modern dance autopoetics.
