Box je predstava koja se sastoji od 5 kutija. U svakoj kutiji nalazi se materijal kojeg sam napravila nekad u posljednjih 10 godina, ali koji nikad nije zaživio na sceni. U predstavi “Box” ti su se materijali sklopili u jednu priču i jednu osobu. Danas.

 

MAJA DROBAC Koreografkinja Maja Drobac diplomirala je na Theater School u Amsterdamu 2005. godine odsjek za izvođača. U Hrvatskoj se prije studija školovala u Školi za klasični balet u Zagrebu te u Školi suvremenog plesa Ane Maletić. Za vrijeme studija plesala je godinu dana u Magpie Music and Dance Company te se 2005. godine preselila u Indiju gdje je upisala i završila Diploma program na Bhaskara College of Fine Arts, smjer klasični Indijski ples (Bharatanatyam) i Karnatik glazba (Mrudangam – klasična Indijska udaraljka). 2007. godine koreografirala je Vjeverice na juriš s kojima je gostovala na mnogo tuzemnih i inozemnih festivala. U prosincu 2007. godine dodijeljena joj je stipendija Indijske vlade (ICCR) za daljnju naobrazbu u Bharatanatyamu pod Guruom Smt. Lalitha Srinivasan (Nupura School for Bharatanatyam). Učenica je C. Chaluvaraju, jednog od najcjenjenijih Mrudangam umjetnika Južne Indije. Do danas je imala tri solo cjelovečernja Bharatanatyam nastupa, u Indiji i u Zagrebu koja su prošla veoma zapaženo. Od 2008. godine gostuje kao plesačica u Yana Lewis Dance Company (kompanija klasičnog baleta sa sjedištem u Bangaloreu, Indiji). Autorica je Vipassane, plesnog sola iz 2009. godine te je te iste godine surađivala sa Studijem za suvremeni ples kao koreografkinja plesne predstave Duh (sklon promjeni) s kojom Studio gostuje po Hrvatskoj i svijetu, a ujedno su i dobitnici Kaplje, nagrade za grupnu realizaciju Kazališnog festivala PUFa. 2011. koreografirala je uspješan nastavak Vjeverice pod nazivom ’Vjeverice uzvraćaju udarac’.

Box is a performance that consists of 5 boxes. Each box contains material which I did once in the past 10 years, but that never worked at the scene. In “Box”, these materials come together into one story and one person. Today.

 

MAJA DROBAC Choreographer Maja Drobac graduated from Theater School in Amsterdam in 2005, performer department. Before college, in Croatia she was educated in School for classical ballet in Zagreb and Ana Maletić’s school of contemporary dance. During her academic studies, she danced for a year in the Magpie Music and Dance Company, and in 2005 she moved to India where she enrolled in, and graduated from the Diploma program at the Bhaskara College of Fine Arts, course classic Indian dance (Bharatanatyam) and Karnatik music (Mrudangam – classic Indian percussion instrument). In 2007 she choreographed Squirrel rush and with it she visited many festivals, both locally and internationally. In December 2007, she received a scholarship from the Indian government (ICCR) for further education in Bharatanatyamu under Guruom Smt. Lalitha Srinivasan (Nupura School for Bharatanatyam). She is C. Chaluvaraj’s student, who is one of the most respected Mrudangam artists in South India. Up until now, she has had three solo Bharatanatyam evening performances, in India and Zagreb, all of which were very well received. Since 2008 she’s a guest dancer in the Yana Lewis Dance Company (a classic ballet company with its headquarters in Bangaloreu, India). She is the author of Vipassane, a dance solo from 2009, and in that same year she cooperated with Studio Contemporary Dance Company as the choreographer of dance performance called Ghost (prone to change) which the Studio has been performing around Croatia and wider, and which has also won the Kaplja, an award for a group realization, awarded by Theater festival PUF. In 2011 she choreographed a successful sequel to Squirrel called The squirrels fight back.
